Lyrics

ASHES TO ARMOR
[INTRO]
Yeah... They thought the fire would finish me, thought when it all burned I would disappear with it. But God doesn’t waste pain. He builds your armor from what tried to bury you.
[VERSE 1]
I walked out of the fire with the smoke inside my lungs, Every scar became a language, every wound became a tongue. I was buried under losses, had the dirt across my face, But the hand that pulled me upward was the power of His grace. They took loyalty and broke it, turned my kindness into weakness, Left me bleeding in the darkness, then blamed me for the pieces. I was asking God for answers, He was teaching me to stand, Sometimes losing everybody helps you understand the plan. I don’t move the way I used to, I don’t trust without a reason, Some will love you in the summer, then betray you in the season. Had to learn that being faithful doesn’t mean I must be blind, I can forgive what you did and still leave you behind. Every flame that touched my spirit burned away another lie, Every time they tried to end me, something stronger learned to rise. Now the ashes of my past are falling from me like a storm, What was meant to be my grave became the metal for my armor.
[HOOK]
From ashes to armor, from broken to strong, I walked through the fire when they thought I was gone. Every scar is a warning, every wound is a shield, God took what tried to destroy me and taught my spirit to heal. From ashes to armor, I’m still standing tall, What was sent here to break me couldn’t finish me at all.
[VERSE 2]
I used to carry every insult like a stone against my chest, Every betrayal kept me restless, every memory stole my rest. I was fighting with the shadows of the people I once knew, Till the Lord said, “Drop the weight; it doesn’t still belong to you.” So I released what I was holding but kept what pain had taught me, Love without discernment nearly let the darkness rob me. Now I watch the fruit they carry, I don’t listen to the claim, A person’s true intentions always surface through the flame. I ain’t colder, I’m protected; there’s a difference in the two, I still love, but I won’t let another liar twist the truth. I still pray for those who crossed me, but they cannot cross the gate, Forgiveness frees my spirit; it don’t give you back your place. I survived the nights of anger when revenge was calling loud, Had to kneel before the Father just to keep from blacking out. Every prayer became a rivet, every tear became a plate, Now my faith is wrapped around me when I walk into the hate.
[BRIDGE - SPOKEN PRAYER]
Father, don’t remove every battle—prepare me for it. Don’t erase every scar—remind me what You carried me through. Give me wisdom to recognize the enemy, strength to resist him and a heart that remains Yours. Let my armor protect my spirit without turning my heart into stone.
[VERSE 3]
I’ve been tested by the darkness, had temptation at my door, Heard the enemy keep whispering, “You don’t need your faith no more.” Said, “Where was God when they betrayed you? Where was God when you were low?” I said, “Standing in the fire, making sure I made it through.” You can see me wearing damage, but that damage isn’t shame, Every mark across my spirit is a chapter with His name. I don’t brag about the suffering, but I testify I rose, Because somebody in the darkness needs to know they’re not alone. There were nights I nearly lost it, there were mornings without hope, Times I felt the pressure tightening like a hand around my throat. But the breath inside my body was a message from above: “You survived another night because I haven’t finished, son.” Now I’m marching with a purpose, not returning where I fell, I have already walked through fire; I’m not frightened by the smell. Let the enemy assemble, let him send another storm, I’ve got prayer inside my spirit and the Word beneath my armor. I’m not fighting for revenge; I’m fighting not to lose my soul, Fighting for the broken pieces God is making into whole. What they buried in the ashes has returned beneath the dawn, They believed the man was finished, but the warrior lives on.
[FINAL HOOK]
From ashes to armor, from wounded to wise, They watched my world burn, but they couldn’t stop the rise. Every scar is a warning, every wound is a shield, God took what tried to destroy me and taught my spirit to heal. From ashes to armor, now I answer the call, What was sent here to break me made me ready for it all.
[OUTRO]
I don’t hate the fire anymore. It showed me what was real, revealed who stood with me and reminded me Who never left. The ashes are behind me. The armor is on. Lord, lead me into the next battle.
